The Addams Family Audition Information

ALL ARE WELCOME TO AUDITION

We encourage all age groups and levels of talent to come join us. A place will be made in the show for all who audition.


MINIMUM AGE REQUIREMENT: Student cast members must currently be enrolled in 2nd grade.


REHEARSALS ARE HELD:

  • At Sheckler Elementary School beginning in January 2019
  • On Tuesdays & Thursdays beginning promptly at  6:30 PM
  • On Sundays from 1:00 PM – 5:00 PM
  • On some Saturday mornings, dance rehearsals at Catasauqua HS are required / Dates TBA
  • As of April 1st, rehearsals at Catasauqua HS will be held more frequently  / Dates TBA

IMPORTANT DATES

  • Thursday, November 1 at 7:00 pm: Production Meeting, Catasauqua HS
  • Sunday, December 2 at 1-3:30 pm: Auditions, Sheckler
  • Sunday, December 2 at 6:00 PM: Call Backs, Sheckler
  • Friday, December 7: Mandatory Deadline to Accept Roles, Online
  • Monday, December 10 at 7:00 PM: Read Through & Full Cast Meeting, Sheckler

Sunday, December 2

  • 1:00 pm – 3:30 pm
    • FIRST ROUND OF AUDITIONS (Vocals only)
  • 6:00 pm - onward
    • CALLBACKS (Vocals from score and readings)
  • FIRST ROUND of Auditions will be done on a first come, first serve basis.  No lines, no waiting!  Participants may leave immediately after they have sung.
  • Please be available for CALL BACKS at 6:00 pmCALL BACK LIST will be communicated via text/email as soon as it has been prepared.
  • AUDITIONS will be held individually, not by group.
  • PREPARE 32 bars of a show tune of your choice that appropriately reflects the character for which you are auditioning and best shows off your vocal talents.  For those who are unable to do this, we will provide a song alternative for you.

 CHARACTER DESCRIPTION

 GOMEZ ADDAMS:   Adult Male

A man who takes great pride in his family and revels in all it means to be an “Addams.” He struggles with having to keep his daughter’s secret from his wife, whom he adores more than death.

MORTICIA ADDAMS:  Adult Female

The strength of the family with an easy dry wit. Feels her husband is hiding something from her and will use any tactic to lure the secret out.

PUGSLEY ADDAMS:  Female or Male Teen /Young Adult Male

A charming, funny boy who loves being tortured by his sister. He wants to ensure he won’t lose his sister to her new boyfriend so he takes matters into his own hands.

WEDNESDAY ADDAMS: Female Teen / Young Adult Female

She has the same dry wit and sensibility of her mother. Finds love with a “normal” boy (Lucas) and wants to introduce his family to hers. Experiences the youthful drama that comes with first love. Lucas can actually put a smile on her face.

GRANDMA:  Adult Female

A feisty, 102-year-old woman. Fun and quirky, but don’t mess with Grandma. Very comedic.

LURCH:  Adult Male

The family butler who knows all. He speaks in moans and groans without becoming a cartoon version of himself. His movement is always very slow. A LOW voice.

UNCLE FESTER:  Adult Male

The family member who serves as the musical’s narrator. He is larger than life, an energetic, joyous, child-like presence. A comedian.

ALICE BEINEKE:      Adult Female

Mother of Lucas, devoted to her family so she puts aside her own desires. A quirky woman who often speaks in rhyme. While at the Adams Family dinner party, she drinks a potion that causes her to let her hair down and speak her truth.

LUCAS BEINEKE:  Teen Male /Young Adult Male

Fell in love with Wednesday and plans to marry her. Experiences the youthful pain and drama of young love and struggles with the differences between his family and the Addams family.

MAL BEINEKE:  Adult Male

Stuffy father of Lucas and exasperated husband to his rhyming wife, Alice. At one time was a follower of the Grateful Dead but has lost that side of himself. Always looking out for his family.
